Performer, session musician, accompanist

Biography

Luke is a classically-trained pianist holding a diploma in classical performance, but now focuses on playing improvised music. His playing blends contemporary classical with traditional jazz, bebop and modern soul influences. He works closely with a number of bands creating original music, and is also in demand as a session pianist and accompanist. He has experience performing at a wide range of venues and festival stages across the UK and Europe. He brings creativity and broad stylistic awareness to projects, so he is able to work from loose structures, but also possesses very strong sight reading skills. He regularly performs across the UK and holds a degree in music from Cambridge University.

Client testimonial

“I was lucky enough to have Luke, Matilda and Sam (Luke on Keys and Grand Steinway, Sam on Saxophone and Matilda on vocals) play live at my 45th birthday party. This was a 70s themed "dance and mingle" party with 80-90 guests (including children) in a gorgeous 19th century church venue.

Luke was sole lead on the organisational front. He managed the whole process really smoothly by allowing some pre-event planning meetings and carefully listening to my vision for the party. He was proactive in suggestions and generating a music playlist to fit in with the theme and atmosphere I was after. Luke was also happy to adapt as per requests.

We had agreed an acoustic starting set (on a wonderful Grand Steinway). This set included some original music by the Matilda Bond Collective which set a very nice, mellow and sweet opening scene. This was followed by a 70s more vibrant set on keys sax and vocals which got everyone up and dancing. Luke also pre-arranged a sound system to follow the live performance for a dancing playlist which completed well the evening. My guests all commented positively on the flawless musicianship and great quality of both the sound and set-up in the space.

The whole process was stress free, efficient and professional at all times with a very detailed running order (which was respected at all times) and a star performance as an outcome.

I would highly recommend Luke & co for any event.”
